Battle for Redcliffe: Your chance to quiz candidates

If you live in the state seat of Redcliffe, don’t miss this exclusive chance to ask your candidates a tough questions in Quest Community News’ exclusive online debate.

Candidates from both major parties and an independent in the high-stakes seat of Redcliffe will go head to head in a virtual debate on Wednesday night, where you are, our readers, get to ask the questions.

The virtual debate, which will be lifestreamed via The Courier-Mail website, will run from 6.30pm to 7pm on October 14.

These exclusive live-streamed forums are among the 40 which are being held across the state.

Quest is partnering with The Courier-Mail, Sky News and News Queensland’s extensive network of regional titles to deliver the most comprehensive election coverage across the state.

The exclusive debate will see candidates answering tough questions on the issues that matter most to voters before the final ballots are cast on October 31, including youth crime, development, environment, employment, tourism and traffic.

The livestream will be moderated by Redcliffe & Bayside Herald editor Erin Smith.

Readers are invited to send in questions which will be put to the candidates on the day.

Current Labor MP for Redcliffe and Attorney-General Yvette D’Ath will go head to head with long time LNP rival Kerri-Anne Dooley.

Independent candidate Ian Philp will also be taking part in the debate along with Greens candidate Will Simon.

Mrs D’Ath has held the seat of Redcliffe since the 2014 by-election, after failing to be re-elected to the Federal seat of Petrie in 2013.

She has retained the seat, winning the 2017 election with 45.2 per cent of the votes.

This election will be the fifth time Ms Dooley has contested the seat of Redcliffe.

In 2017 she had 37.24 per cent of the votes.

Ian Philp is throwing his hat in the ring as an independent again. He is a strong advocate for local jobs and infrastructure.

Ms Dooley has been campaigning for months and Mrs D’Ath is an experienced campaigner so the battle for Redcliffe will be one to watch.
