Duo to face court after one allegedly stole a truck in Morayfield during getaway

Two men will face court after allegedly stealing not only from a Morayfield store but also the getaway vehicle.

A hapless thief who allegedly attempted to steal from an electrical store before fleeing in an alleged stolen truck has been caught.

Police arrested two men at Morayfield on Tuesday after an incident at an electrical store on Morayfield Road.

It’s understood one of the men entered the store and inquired about a product just before 10am.

When staff became suspicious, the man allegedly attempted to flee the store in possession of two speakers that he grabbed on the way out.

The man allegedly fled on foot after staff confronted him.

He then ran from the store allegedly jumping into a nearby truck that was making a delivery.

A passenger in the truck was forced to flee after when the alleged offender started to drive off.

Police have charged a 39-year-old Southport man with attempted robbery and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

He is due to appear in the Caboolture Magistrates Court on September 15.

A second man was then charged with stealing, public nuisance and failing to comply with COVID-19 direction.

The 38-year-old Caboolture man is expected to appear in Caboolture Magistrates Court on August 23.

The vehicle was located a short distance away in Cotswold Street.
