The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) did not budge, instead referring Orianna and Cubdale developments to the State Assessment Referral Agency (SARA).

SARA conditioned the developers to upgrade the intersection with traffic lights once both current projects were complete.

“The first developer was required to widen the road and improve turning lanes at the intersection, while the second developer was required to install traffic signals,” a TMR spokeswoman said.

“These upgrades are required to be completed before the current stages of development.

“Timing to deliver the upgrades is subject to the developer’s construction program and commercial considerations.”

Orianna’s first stage is complete and Cubdale’s 144 unit complex is in the process of being built.

Ms Leishman said residents were still sceptical the developers would follow suit.

“Nobody objects to the units being built as long as the traffic lights are put in,” Ms Leishman said. “Particularly for people coming out of Spinnaker Drive turning right to Caboolture.

“We have every right to expect that to occur, however residents are concerned the developer is making approaches to TMR to delay the provision of that condition.”

There has been no sign of construction starting on the traffic lights.

The Bribie Weekly contacted both Hometown Australia (Orianna) and Cubdale for comment.
