A young dad, who struggled with ice addiction, has faced court after calling a Bribie Island officer a ‘f***ng c**t fat f**got’ after he was pulled over for doing donuts, with two young children in the car.
Michael Dowd pleaded guilty at Caboolture Magistrates Court to doing four donuts on Bribie Island main beach, swearing at and being aggressive towards an officer, and not wearing his seatbelt correctly.
Dowd was convicted and fined for his ‘outrageous’ offending.
The court heard that on January 3 this year at around 2pm, a Bribie Island ranger officer saw Dowd doing about three to four donuts in his car on the main beach. He was creating a dangerous disturbance and kicking up sand and water.
Dowd has a lengthy criminal history and the court heard he used to struggle with ice addiction, but was not intoxicated on this day.
The officer pulled Dowd over, approached him in his car, and asked him to produce his license – the court heard.
The court heard Dowd then became enraged and started to abuse the officer.
“You dumb c***t I’ve done nothing wrong you piece of s***t,” Dowd said.
The officer then tried to walk back to his vehicle to complete an infringement notice, the court heard. Dowd then demanded he be given his license back.
The court heard Dowd then got out of his car, walked up to the officer, and pushed him in his chest.
“Give me my f***ing property c***t you piece of fat s**t,” Dowd screamed in the officer’s face – the court heard.
“Who the f**k do you think you are?
“You f***ing dog c***s.
“I’ll have you f**gots up for corruption and harassment.” The court heard Dowd screamed at the officer.
He then threatened to punch the officer in the face while he was trying to hand over the paperwork for his infringement notice, the court heard. The officer asked Dowd to get back into his car.
“Get f***ed c***t what do you think you’re going to do about it you skinny f***ing mutt?” Dowd yelled at him, the court heard.
Dowd then re-entered his vehicle and drove away, the court heard. However as he drove away Dowd was observed not wearing his seatbelt correctly.
On January 4, 2022, Police attended Dowd’s home address to charge him with public nuisance, obstructing an authorized officer, threatening violence, and not wearing a seatbelt.
Dowd admitted to his behavior and told police he was remorseful for his actions, the court heard.
Dowd’s lawyer told the court his client owns a local concreting business.
He previously had a drug drive charge in 2021 for smoking cannabis, the court heard. Dowd also suffers from anxiety.
Dowd was convicted and fined $1500 for his offending.
