The 28-year old woman had failed to appear in November 2021 while facing drug and driving charges, before continuing to contravene direction of police on January 25 at Redcliffe.

Hardaker had undertaken bail as part of that order and had failed to report to police on two occasions, March 10 and April 29, as required.

“She had forgotten what day it was and realised she had forgotten to report,” police prosecutor Sergeant Breannan Whittaker-Morrow said.

Hardaker had been in a long-term relationship with her girlfriend at the time when the common assault and stealing offence occurred on January 1 this year, the court heard.

Hardaker’s lawyer, Ms Kristie Horne, says their argument had been over her partners’ frequent drug habit.

“They had a ‘lovers’ tiff’ — and that has sort of blown into something else,” Ms Horne said.

“They are now working on strategies towards a healthy relationship and to remain drug free.

“Sheseems to have turned a corner now, and the optimism I can hear in her voice.”

The court heard Hardaker continued to breach her bail terms in April 2021 despite her history of cooperating with police.

“She has previously cooperated with police and admitted to her involvement,” Sergeant Whittaker-Morrow said.

Hardaker was convicted and fined $300 for contravening a probation order.

She was convicted and fined $1000 for contravening a probation order.

For contravening the direction of police she was convicted and fined $300.

Hardaker was also convicted and fined $450 for breaching her bail terms.

She was sentenced to three months imprisonment, suspended for six months for the common assault charge and stealing.

“This will be a short, hard message for you, that you can’t do this again,” Magistrate Annette Hennessy said.

“Keep going, you’re doing good so far.”
