We’ve been on the hunt for Caboolture’s best barber and finally, they have been found.

Thanks to Caboolture Herald readers, who nominated and voted for their favourite barber, the best of the best have been revealed — with the ultimate winner a wonderful part of the region’s history.

Read on to see who’s a cut above.

3. The Cutting Edge Barbers Narangb a

Known for not only their stylish dos but their branded vintage ute that gets around town, these barbers have gained a massive following.

In just two years the Narangba-based business has clocked up so many loyal followers they have claimed our number three spot.

2. Empress Barbershop, Morayfield

Owner Chelsea Weeks — who previously managed a barbershop in North Lakes — said she took the plunge and opened her own business in a hope it would fit in with her family life.

“I recently started a family and I wanted to have that flexibility of not working all the time,” she said.

The barbershop, with a team of three barbers with more than 30 years combined experience, caters for babies getting their first haircut to their eldest client who is almost 100 years old.

“We actually have quite a wide range of customers that come in,” she said.

Debbie Latter broke the mould 30 years ago when barbers were traditionally men.

She started barbering in 1976 “when no one wanted a female barber” and has taken her career from strength to strength, and has made herself a well-loved part of her community in the process.

“I’ve been in town since 1989,” she said.

“It was only myself and Wally (another barber) in town.”

While her current shop is on Beerburrum Rd, she has moved around the region twice before — and at one stage she was located in the now demolished shopping precinct that used to house Retravision, a pet shop, Toyworld and about 30 other shops.

“That was the hub of Caboolture, near the railway.”

With three decades of barbering under her belt, she can attest to one thing for sure — fashion really does repeat itself.

“(The bong ones ask me if I can do a certain cut) and it’s like, dude I was doing these hair cuts in the ‘70s!”

And she said much of young male fashion when it comes to hair can be attributed to what’s being featured on the footy field.

As for being voted the region’s top barber, she said she was grateful for so many loyal customers.

“I’m very pleased and appreciative,” she said.

“I’ve had a career I’ve enjoyed and loved over many years.

“I’ve met many folk and enjoyed their company while they’re getting their hair cut.

“I’ve enjoyed this because I’ve met so many wonderful people.

“It’s wonderful to cap this year off with this wonderful award.”
