Appeal for witnesses of attempted car robbery, Newport

A middle-aged woman managed to deter two men armed with knives as they attempted to steal a Kia Sportage which was parked on a driveway in Moreton Bay.

Two men armed with a knife ran away after a woman in her 40s managed to deter the pair who attempted to steal a Kia Sportage parked in a Moreton Bay driveway.

Police are appealing for witnesses following an attempted robbery in Newport overnight, July 31.

Emergency services were called at 11.45pm to reports two men, armed with a knife, attempted to steal a Kia Sportage which was parked on a driveway along Brindabella Street.

A resident who was home at the time, a 45-year-old Newport woman, attempted to stop the duo.

She was not physically injured.

The group subsequently left the scene on foot towards Solo Street and Spinnaker Boulevard a short time later.

Detectives are appealing to witnesses who were in the area between 11pm, July 31, and 1.30am, August 1, to come forward.

Anyone with relevant CCTV or dashcam vision is also urged to contact police.

Investigations are continuing.
