Binge’s lawyer said his client suffered from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), anxiety and depression and was a frequent cannabis user from the age of 11 and methamphetamines from the age of 14.

“He does struggle with drug dependencies issues,” he said.

Binge had been on parole at the time of these offences, and was in custody for 58 days prior, suffering long lockdowns due to COVID-19.

Magistrate Annette Hennessy pressed the seriousness of the charges to the expecting father.

“You definitely need to be compliant to make sure you can be apart of your first baby’s life,” Ms Hennessy said.

Binge received a head sentence of two years for entering premises and committing an indictable offence.

He also received a sentence of nine months imprisonment to be served concurrently for three counts of stealing.

For his remaining offences, he received a sentence of 18 months, to be served concurrently.

For breaching his bail conditions he was convicted, but not further punished.

Binge was given a fine of more than $7000 in restitution.

Convictions were recorded.
