An 18-year-old Deception Bay man has been given a stern warning by a magistrate after being caught drink-driving with his mates in the car.
Caleb Joshua Gill pleaded guilty in Redcliffe Magistrates Court today to drink-driving while on a provisional licence.
Gill was pulled over by police on May 18 at Anzac Ave, Redcliffe, about 2.10am and returned a blood-alcohol concentration of 0.054 per cent.
Being on a provisional licence, Gill is not allowed to drive with any alcohol in his system.
Gill told the court he and his mates had been at Mon Komo Hotel celebrating a birthday.
“We were going to stay the night and everything and leave in the morning but we got kicked out, I didn’t drink that much,” Gill said.

“It was raining, I didn’t want to get behind the wheel but we didn’t want to be stuck outside the whole night.”
Magistrate Leanne Scoines noted Gill had no previous traffic history.
“But you’ve only been on the roads for two minutes, so really you shouldn’t have any history,” Ms Scoines said.
“It was late, it was raining and you are on a P-plate – it is a combination for an absolute disaster.
“If you had run into somebody you would be in far bigger trouble than you are in already, obviously.
“It is one of the biggest killers on our roads and it is really serious.
“... You are 18 years old and have already lost your licence for drink-driving; it is not a good look”.
Gill was fined $500 and disqualified from driving for the minimum three months.
No convictions was recorded.
