A serial public masturbator has been caught offending again on a Logan train where he followed a woman onto a carriage and sat across from her, while performing the act.

A serial public masturbator has been caught offending again on a Logan train where he followed a woman onto a carriage and sat across from her, while performing the act.

Beenleigh Magistrates Court heard on Friday that 22-year-old Boon Tuwhaka-Ire-Ora Mcilroy followed a woman onto the train at Woodridge Station at 2.50pm.

He sat deliberately across from her, pulled his pants down and started masturbating while staring at her in the eyes on October 13 last year.

She started filming him, hoping he would stop.

The victim told police she felt “repulsed and scared” and said he was looking at her with “creepy eyes”.

The court heard the victim then phoned a friend to meet her at Beenleigh Train Station because she was scared he would follow her.

Mcilroy pleaded guilty to performing an indecent act in any place which the public are permitted to access.

The court heard Mcilroy was homeless at the time of the incident.

This was not the first time the Kingston man had been sentenced for similar sexual offending.

He appeared in court last year for sexually assaulting a women by touching her on the vagina in a shopping centre.

Magistrate Mark Howden said Mcilroy clearly has a significant problem.

“It was a persistent effort and this is not the first time you’ve been caught,” he said to Mcilroy.

“This is very concerning and a message needs to be sent to the public if you do this in public, on trains, you will go to prison.”

He was sentenced to seven months in prison, released on parole immediately.

Mcilroy had already served 121 days of pre-sentence custody.
