A Gold Coast cableman’s wild antics in front of cops, where he was hooning dangerously on a motorbike and ignoring their instructions, has cost him dearly.
On February 4 police were conducting patrols at a community event in Eagleby, heard Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Thursday, November 9.
The officers saw Travis Joel Bowden, 40, riding loudly and creating smoke on his motorbike and tried to detain him.
Mount Nathan man Bowden ignored the officer’s requests on Fry Road, Eagleby and then refused a breath alcohol test.
He pleaded guilty to wilfully making unnecessary noise or smoke, obstructing a police officer and driving without a licence.
The court heard Bowden worked as a cableman and had no criminal history.
Defence barrister Mitch Rawlings said his client was acting stubborn and was remorseful for his actions.
“He was embarrassed and stubborn when confronted by police in front of his friends and acted poorly,” he said.
“It needs to be noted Mr Bowden was only screeching or making noise for five seconds.”
Magistrate Mark Howden noted Bowden’s traffic history was dated and fined him $800, referred to SPER.
His driving licence was disqualified for seven months and a conviction was recorded.
