A woman has been transported to hospital after her car crashed into a tree outside of a popular pub on a busy street just south of Brisbane.

At one point two lanes of the Pacific Mwy were closed, causing significant delays, but the motorway was reopened earlier this morning.

Ambulance officers were called to the scene at Albert St in Waterford, opposite popular Logan pub Fitzy’s, at 10.16am.

A QAS spokesman said a woman in her 30s crashed her car into a tree.

She was treated on scene for back injuries before being transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in a stable condition.

Queensland Police also attended the scene.

One witness said the motorist tried to merge lanes before hitting a traffic sign.

“She was in a Nissan Patrol and didn’t get let in, then smashed into the pole,” he said.

“She then struck the tree and she was lucky it was there, because if she didn’t hit that she would have gone straight into the river.”
