He is yet another promising Queensland product to come out of Marsden SHS, a prolific rugby league production line headed by Cameron Smith.

This year Tesi brother was a member of the winning Marsden SHS year 10 side which looks a powerhouse outfit..

Niu, who names electrifying fullbacks Billy Slater and Valentine Holmes as his heroes, said he found the tour an invaluable experience on and off the field.

Niu originally hailed from the Forest Lake region where he was a schoolboy start at the Magpies rugby league junior club.

He attended Richlands East State School as a child before moving to Marsden SHS for his secondary schooling.

As a child at the Forest Lake Magpies, Niu played junior representative football with another exciting Queensland talent, Jangala Bennet, who hailed from Souths Sunnybank and was signed by the Cronulla Sharks after schooling at St Joesph’s Nudgee College.

Niu was composed at the back of his team against a full strength Great Britain Test line-up, but was sure to be tested even more when he plays against Australia this weekend.
