A sensational 60m solo try by Queensland schoolboy selection T.C. Robati helped drive Marsden SHS to an entertaining Langer Cup win over St Mary’s tonight.
With the game in the balance Robati, a Brisbane Broncos signing, ripped through St Mary’s defence to give his side a 16-point advantage midway the second half.

It was an eye-opening match that initially went Marsden’s way, swung back towards St Mary’s then finished with Marsden on the downhill run.
In the end Marsden won 50-22 despite the best efforts of outstanding hooker Shaun Packer who capped an elite performance with two tries for St Mary’s.
St Mary’s were up for the challenge on a freezing night in Logan, but Marsden had touches of class in the back row and the back line which was enough to propel them to a win.
INDIGENOUS THEMED JUMPERS WORN BY MARSDEN AND ST MARY’S
Marsden jumped St Mary’s early shocking the Darling Downs visitors to lead to 12-0.
First Marsden halfback Konrad Tu’ua asked questions of the St Mary’s defence which gave hooker Ezra Teuila field position to wriggle and twist his way over the line.
Then minutes later the winger Colin Tui flashed onto a kick to make it 12-0.
St Mary’s gathered composure and gained parity in the too and fro of the match.
Packer was instrumental in the recovery while interchange forward Flynn Kaiser gave thrust to the pack.
St Mary’s first try came after a splendid backline movement ended with winger Preston Weatherall squeezing his way over in the corner.
LANGER CUP SCHOOLBOYS PROUD OF THE PAST
Marsden responded with a fine try to Tyrone Sa’u after a mighty run by seconded rower Robati.
But St Mary’s scored the last two tries of the first half, one a fine an individual effort by dummy half Packer and the other to winger Ed Witherspoon who plucked a grubber kick from Tyson Steven
Then came Marsden sustained finished.
They upped the ante in the play the ball, and as such their game went up a gear as halves Tu’ua and Rixson Andrew linked backs and forwards.
