‘Such sad news’: Browns Plains dad Troy Edward Vandenberg, 25, identified as hit and run victim

A 25-year-old Browns Plains dad has been identified as the man who was horrifically struck by a car and killed in an alleged hour-long road rage incident that crossed Brisbane.

A 25-year-old Browns Plains dad has been identified as the man who was horrifically struck by a car and killed in an alleged hour-long road rage incident that crossed Brisbane.

Troy Edward Vandenberg was allegedly hit by a white Audi S3 at the intersection of Wembley Rd and Greenfern Dr, Browns Plains at 3pm on Friday.

Mr Vandenberg, who has a five-year-old son, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.

The alleged driver of the Audi, 20-year-old Umar Hussein Alkhalifa Al Enizi, allegedly left the scene of the crash before police responded.

Police will allege that the fatal strike came after a prolonged road rage event between Al Enizi and Mr Vandenberg.

Police understand Al Enizi was driving a white Audi S3 when he allegedly hit Mr Vandenberg, who had gotten out of a blue Toyota Camry.

Mr Vandenberg was previously employed with a brick and block laying business in Brisbane and was an avid gym goer at CrossFit189 in Crestmead.

Friends have taken to social media to pay tribute to Mr Vandenberg since his sudden passing.

“RIP to Troy, who has left his young son behind and his mother … Such sad news,” one friend commented.

20-year-old Marsden resident Umar Hussein Alkhalifa Al Enizi was arrested in relation to the incident on Saturday and is now facing charges of murder, driving without licence repeated offender and driver to remain at incident and exhibit proper respect to deceased.

His matters were mentioned in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Monday, where he did not appear or apply for bail and was remanded in custody until November 10.
