SOUTHS Logan Magpies recruits Cameron Booth and Jonathan Kent are looking to put injury behind them as they return to their childhood club.

Close mates Booth and Kent have both spent the past two years in the Canberra Raiders’ under-20s system, but they each spent time on the sidelines.

“I did my knee in the first year we were there and then he did his knee last year,” Booth said.

“Mine is doing really well, I played over 20 games last year.

“Johno is back into contact so he’s recovering well, too.

“I think the biggest thing I learnt at the Raiders was just about professionalism, in terms of eating right and preparing well.”

Booth, who prefers to play in the centres, said both players had fitted in well since returning. “There’s a good group of guys here and there are a few juniors from the club who have returned, so we both know a few people here already,” he said.

“There’s a good group of guys here and Josh Hannay is a good coach.

“With the club linking up with the Broncos, we’ve got a few guys from there coming down to play with us.

“I’m looking forward to getting back out there. Johno is usually good with setting me up from fullback and I just put the ball down for the try so it is good fun.”
