Qld tourism receives $70 million lifeline

An intimate farm event space boasting rural hinterland views is coming to the Scenic Rim, only an hour’s drive from Brisbane and the Gold Coast.

Scenic Rim Regional Council has approved a development application for the function facility, which can host up to 80 guests at a time.

The facility will be at 38 Reiser Ln in Boyland, near Tamborine and Mount Tamborine.

According to the development application, it will provide an intimate reception facility for small groups.

About 150 sqm will be indoors, with a 50 sqm outside deck enjoying views of a rural hinterland property and its dam.

The venue will be open 40 weekends a year, from Friday to Sunday.

The venue will be open to hire from 9am to 11pm on Fridays and Saturdays, and from 9am to 7pm on Sundays.

Outside activity would be restricted after 9pm. The alfresco area has also been designed to face away from the dam and nestle into a hill, and will be screened by landscaping to reduce noise.

There will be minimal food preparation onsite, with plans to have catering delivered to the venue for the events. It will also require a liquor license.

There will be up to 20 parking spaces and there will be two bus parking bays.

However, there is sufficient space for an overflow carparking area to be informally created for extra parking.

Access to the venue will be via a gravel road off Reiser Ln, veering off from the existing farm driveway.

The owner of the property, who will live on site with their elderly parents, plans to establish an open style facility to cater for seated areas and open the space up for dancing and gatherings.

The venue will have a small bar and kitchen facilities.

There will be no clearing of vegetation.
