An Ipswich woman’s shocking alleged reaction to a break-up has seen her accused of lighting her boyfriend’s Logan home on fire, forcing 20 neighbours to evacuate.
Rhiannon Faith Peatey, 24, faced Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Tuesday, October 21 charged with one count of arson of a structure of building.
The Ipswich woman allegedly set a unit on fire at a complex on Main St, Beenleigh late last night.
Police allege Ms Peatey had an argument with her boyfriend of four months and packed up her belongings in his apartment then set the house on fire, before walking away.
The 32-year-old boyfriend was not inside the unit at the time.
Police arrived at the Main St unit complex at 9.45pm and evacuated 20 neighbours.
None of the adjoining units suffered any serious damage.
Ms Peatey was arrested shortly after without incident and taken to Southport Watchhouse.
She did not apply for bail when her matters were mentioned in Beenleigh Magistrates Court.
The court heard the matter will be listed as a domestic violence offence and a brief of evidence would be ordered for January, next year.
Magistrate Patrina Clohessy adjourned the matter to January 17, 2024 for a committal mention.
