Marsden State High School’s women’s rugby league program has received a boost, with three teachers helping incumbent Cobie-Jane Morgan develop students both on and off the field this year.
Morgan has been joined by Asako Ono, Morgan Te Oka and Keeown Rawnsley.
Rawnsley arrives from the National Rugby League, Te Oka comes from Redcliffe State High School and Ono is a Queensland Reds rep.

Cobie-Jane Morgan was excited to continue to build the program.
“This is my second year at Marsden and leading on from 2019, we are looking to foster the great talent we already have here in Logan and to try push those girls into opens and onto further opportunities,’’ she said.
Ono said it was a pleasure to be joining a school and program with an established culture.
“We want to help mould a successful female athlete, but also a successful person in general,’’ she said.
Te Oka said Marsden SHS already provided an “amazing opportunity’’ for girls in the code.
“So we are just hoping to come in and build on that and help create that culture and successful leaders,’’ she said.

Rawnsley added: “Marsden SHS has a great culture and I am really excited as a team to build the girls’ rugby league program here at Marsden.’’
Marsden SHS is a rugby league powerhouse, with the boys program producing many current and past elite players.
Last year Marsden SHS made the Queensland grand final while the year 10 side won their premiership.
The school has added former NRL halfback Darren Nicholls to the teaching and coaching staff for 2020.
Marsden is renowned as one of thee richest breeding grounds for talent in wold league, capable of fielding a team made up of current NRL talent.
From the great Cameron Smith to young guns like Corey Allan and Tesi Niu past students, Marsden SHS old boys are littered throughout the NRL.
