Police charge 29 people after major drug operation in southeast Queensland

A major operation has resulted in 29 people being charged with more than 100 offences as police target the drug distribution network in southeast Queensland. SEE THE LIST

A shotgun, crossbow, meth and more than $50,000 in cash have been seized after a major 10-month police operation targeting the drug distribution network in southeast Queensland.

And now the names of all those charged have been released.

Logan Detectives executed 28 search warrants in areas including Beaudesert, Jimboomba, and Yarrabilba this week where 29 people where charged with 125 offences, including alleged drug trafficking, supplying dangerous drugs, armed robbery and weapons offences as part of Operation Tango Magnitude.

During the two days police seized methylamphetamine, cannabis and GHB, weapons including a shotgun, conducted energy weapons, crossbows, ammunition, drug utensils, a stolen motor vehicle, two stolen jet skis, two stolen motorcycles and approximately $50,000 cash.

Police have also arrested three Beaudesert locals, out of the 29 people charged this week, who are allegedly involved in a serious drug trafficking operation.

Police have said they will allege they were trafficking meth, fantasy drug GHB, and cannabis.

Logan CIB detective acting inspector, Nicola Brown, said the results reinforce police’s commitment to targeting those involved in alleged criminal activity.

“We know this action will significantly disrupt the drug distribution network throughout southeast Queensland,” she said.

Two Beaudesert men, aged 35 and 41, as well as a 23-year-old Beaudesert woman were charged after police allegedly found methylamphetamine, a shotgun, multiple conducted energy weapons, crossbows and $6000 cash at an address on Jason Day Dr, Beaudesert on Monday.

The 35-year-old man, Kurt Hart, was charged with 20 offences, including drug trafficking, possession of dangerous drugs as well as authority required to possess explosives.

He appeared in the Southport Magistrates Court yesterday and will appear again today.

The 41-year-old man, Garth Velthien, appeared in the Beenleigh Magistrates Court yesterday and will next appear on December 14 after being charged with offences including trafficking dangerous drugs serious organised crime and supplying dangerous drugs.

The 23-year-old woman, Chloe Weier, is Mr Hart’s romantic partner and was charged with one count of drug trafficking and will appear in the Beenleigh Magistrates Court today.
