Parents charged with murder of missing toddler Baden Bond, who has not been seen in a decade

UPDATE:

THE parents of missing toddler Baden Bond have been remanded in custody after appearing in court this morning.

Shane Arthur Simpson, 49, and Dina Colleen Bond, 43, appeared briefly in the dock in the Brisbane Magistrates Court this morning.

They cannot apply for bail due to the seriousness of their charge.

Their cases were adjourned until April 10.

THE parents of missing toddler Baden Bond have been charged with his murder.

Baden was 22-months-old when he disappeared in March 2007 while his parents lived in Kagawn St, Woodridge, about 20km south of the Brisbane CBD.

Police will allege he was killed between March 26 and May 17, in Woodridge or elsewhere in Queensland, by his parents — a 43-year-old Woodridge woman and a 49-year-old man from Toormina, New South Wales.

Both parents are due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court this morning.

It caps a year-long search for Baden, who was only discovered missing when a magistrate in New South Wales asked what had happened to him in January 2016.

That led to police digging up a back yard in Kagawn St in March last year.

On Wednesday, police held an appeal for information and confirmed they were treating the case as a homicide.

They also announced they were examining bones, but the results could take up to three months to come back to police.
