A Gold Coast air conditioner installer has faced court for alleged unsafe electrical work practices from late 2019 to early 2020 across Logan.

Orrey Robert Wilson, 33, appeared in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on five charges of failure to comply with category two electrical safety and expose an individual to risk of death or serious injury.

He also faced one charge of conducting business, including electrical work without holding a license.

It was alleged the Arundel resident unsafely installed air conditioners from December 2019 to May 2020 in Bethania, Acacia Ridge, Crestmead, Slacks Creek and Inala.

The matter was listed for a sentence on October 18 with solicitor Rob Martin representing Mr Wilson and the prosecutor was Ms Daws from the office of work health and safety.

No plea has been offered by Mr Wilson.

Mr Martin adjourned the matter until November 11 and told the court there was an issue with the prosecution’s potential questioning.

“An issue has arisen with the complexity of compulsory questioning and how it can be used, so we just need to adjourn to clarify that, outside of the court,” he said.

Magistrate Patrina Clohessy said the issues raised may have an impact on the factual basis of the matter.

The matter will next be mentioned in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on November 11.
