More Art From Me Gallery and Cafe opens in Loganholme

A local artist has had her dream come true, after opening Logan’s first art gallery cafe where locals can have a coffee while surrounded by local artwork.

Qld tourism receives $70 million lifeline

For the first time Logan locals will have the opportunity to enjoy a warm cup of coffee and a sweet treat while surrounded by local artwork, at a new gallery cafe.

A Logan resident for nearly 30 years, Katrina Clunies-Ross has opened her first gallery cafe saying it is a dream come true.

“There’s so much artistic talent locally so it’s lovely to be able to not only sell my own art but to also support other local artists from Logan,” she said.

“There’s so much art here in Logan but there aren’t many galleries there. The only other art gallery I know of in Logan is the council one.

“This is more relaxed. It’s about bringing art to the people. I want them to be able to come in have a cuppa, have a look at the art, enjoy it, and come back to buy something if you can’t get it out of your head.”

Mrs Clunies-Ross described herself as not only an artist, but an avid art lover.

“I can’t think of anything better than being surrounded by art all day,” she said.

The gallery cafe had its soft launch opening this week, but will have an official opening art exhibition on Friday October 22, with more info to come soon on the website and Facebook page. Currently the gallery is limited to only 30 guests because of Covid restrictions.

Mrs Clunies-Ross has been an artist her whole life, and said she comes from a family of artists.

“My entire family is creative,” she said.

“Now my eldest daughter is working as an artist and teaching art. I’m so proud of her.

“Some of her artwork is hanging in the gallery too. I couldn’t do this and not include her work.”

Also featured at the gallery are well known Woodridge artists Johnny Arnold and Cherie Strong.

“They’ve even painted some of the coffee tables at the gallery,” Mrs Clunies-Ross said.

“So you’ll be drinking your coffee off a work of art while surrounded by art.

“It's a very creative space.”

The gallery is showcasing 58 artworks from five different Queensland artists, with plans to add even more.

“Sometimes original art is not as accessible as it should be and formal galleries can be intimidating,” Mrs Clunies-Ross said.

The gallery is open now at Loganholme in the Southside Business Centre. Opening hours are from 9am to 2pm Monday to Friday, and from 10am to 2pm on Saturdays.
