Man dies after pool crushes him in workplace incident

A Workplace Health and Safety investigation has been launched into a fatal accident at an industrial workplace south of Brisbane.
It is understood that on Wednesday, March 1 a worker at Barrier Reef Pools Beaudesert died after he was crushed by a fibreglass pool.
A Queensland Workplace Health and Safety spokesperson confirmed the investigation was underway.
“Workplace Health and Safety Queensland is investigating a fatal workplace incident that occurred in Beaudesert,” they said in a statement Thursday.
Several locals took to social media to share their shock, saying everyone deserved to make it home from work safely.
“Far to many workplace deaths and accidents happening lately. Condolences to his family and friends, co-workers,” one person said.
“Everyone has the right to come home safe from work. Rest in peace to this guy,” another said.
Sarah Halpin said the loss was heartbreaking.
“Terrible, so upsetting — this has happened to the most wonderful family,” she said.
“My heart breaks for them.”
Police cars left Barrier Reef Pools on Doug Sullivan Court around 2pm yesterday, followed shortly later by a van for Integrity Funerals.
The fatal incident reportedly happened when a fibreglass pool crushed the man while at the pool company warehouse in an industrial complex in Beaudesert.
Police said they would prepare a report for the coroner following the death.
Nearby businesses and Barrier Reef Pools declined to comment.
A police spokesman said emergency services were called to the Doug Sullivan Court address in relation to a workplace incident where the man was declared deceased.
He sustained critical injuries as a result.
A Queensland Ambulance spokesperson said no other patients were assessed at the scene.
Police were assisting Workplace Health and Safety Queensland Investigations on the day. No charges have been laid.
