Logan Village motorists warned to avoid area as fire ravages home

Firefighters battling an intense blaze at a rural home south of Brisbane have warned motorists to avoid the area and told residents to close windows as thick smoke chocks the area.

Fire fighters are yet to determine the cause of a blaze that gutted a home on a rural road south of Brisbane.

A fire that gutted a single-storey house in a rural southside suburb is under investigation after five crews battled the blaze for an hour, with residents warned to stay indoors due to thick smoke.

Emergency services were called to Miller Rd at Logan Village just after 1pm on Friday, June 7, where flames had engulfed the home, one of many on acreage blocks along the road.

Nobody was injured and fire fighters said they believed nobody was inside when the fire started.

Senior fire officers along with four QFES crews and other crews from two rural brigades were at the scene as plans got under way to search for clues to determine the cause.

Police and emergency services officers urged motorists to avoid the area and tell nearby neighbours to close windows and doors due to thick smoke.

Neighbours were also told to keep any vital medication at hand.

The area is a known fire hotspot with more than 200 properties in the Miller Bridge Rd area put on a fire alert in 2020 when rural brigades went on alert.
