Customers believe faster food giant McDonald’s is having a product shortage as a result of the ongoing flooding and storms, and have taken to social media to complain about their favourites not being available.
One Slacks Creek customer took to Facebook to express her outrage at Logan Central McDonald’s and their food shortage.
“Logan Central Come on,” Jodie Gray said.
“No whipped cream, no sweet n sour sauce, no hot cakes, no hash browns, no eggs.
“Feeling annoyed.”
Ms Gray’s post quickly picked up a following on Facebook with more than 500 likes, more than 700 comments, and close to 60 shares.
Logan Central McDonald’s declined to comment. However a McDonald’s spokesperson provided the following comments:
“Just like many businesses across QLD and NSW, McDonald’s has been impacted by the extreme weather experienced on the east coast over the last week,” they said.
“Unfortunately, this included our Brisbane distribution centre. We immediately implemented a number of contingencies, however the continued poor weather has meant that some of our restaurants have been temporarily closed or are experiencing product shortages.
“The majority of our restaurants across QLD remain open and serving our communities. We are working closely with our local licensees and suppliers to re-open impacted restaurants in the coming days.
“The safety and wellbeing of customers, crew and our communities remains our top priority.
“We appreciate customers’ patience and understanding.”
This follows almost a week of devastating flooding in Logan, Ipswich, Brisbane, the Moreton Bay region and surrounding areas.
A majority of the social media comments are reminding Ms Gray of the flooding and the impact that has had on most local businesses, while also poking fun at her ‘sense of entitlement’.
“My partner works for their suppliers and they are going through hard times with the floods,” Brooke Costa commented.
“Both the McDonald’s and KFC warehouses have been flooded, people’s homes have been flooded and have lost everything,” Kiara Braithwaite said.
“Imagine being angry that Maccas is out of some foods while there is major flooding happening across Queensland,” Gemma Louise Hedger said.
“Pretty sure Queensland is going through a natural disaster and people have lost everything. Not rocket science to realise trucks can’t get stock through... First World problems hey,”
Anya Margerrison said.
“The warehouse in Brisbane got flooded so they are getting stock from NSW if they can get through. Have a bit of common sense,” Renee Carrogu said.
“This is so embarrassing .... Wars, natural disasters and you’re worried about McDonald’s,” Molly Cox said.
Nick Battle: “Yeah super easy for trucks to transport supplies in when 90% of SEQ is under water.”
“People have lost their homes and livelihoods, but here you are complaining that McDonald’s were missing a few items from the menu....we get that you’re obviously a Karen but have some consideration.”
“Do you want to go for a swim through the flood waters to pick up the deliveries for them? I’m sure they’d appreciate it,” Abbey Rose Justice said.
“There’s literally a natural disaster happening girl you’ll live without your whipped cream,” Chloe Jessop said.
“Surely this is a stitch up....nobody could possibly be this self centred and entitled,” Troy Ashley said.
“I’m sure they will just call the weather man up and tell him to just not rain anymore because it’s such an inconvenience to you,” Kiarnah Taylor said.
