An esteemed speech pathologist has landed in court after she was busted behind the wheel over the legal alcohol limit in Slacks Creek after a few wines.
Holland Park West woman Carrie Therese Hudson pleaded guilty in Beenleigh Magistrate Court on Thursday to driving over the general alcohol limit but not the middle alcohol limit.
The court heard Hudson was pulled over by police during a random intercept on the Pacific Mwy, Slacks Creek, about 9.10pm on January 7.
She told police that she had consumed a couple of wines earlier in the evening and blew a 0.077 per cent alcohol reading.
Hudson’s lawyer said her client worked in speech pathology and began her own private practice, which employs 11 people.
She told the court that night Hudson had three wines over a three-hour period while visiting her sister in Shailer Park.
“Four months ago, Ms Hudson had bariatric surgery, and while she understood that her body’s ability to metabolise alcohol would be affected, she didn’t appreciate to what extent,” she said.
She was fined $350 and disqualified from driving for a month. No conviction was recorded.
