A Logan plasterer has returned to court less than two years after being convicted for supplying the drug ice.

Slacks Creek man Joseph Jackson Lawrence Kelly, 31, was caught committing more than 30 offences in 2022, including possessing drugs, breaking and entering, wilful damage, receiving tainted property and fraud.

“The defendant’s also on a suspended sentence from the Supreme Court, that suspended sentence will need to be committed up to the Supreme Court,” police prosecutor Rhiannon Dhillon told Beenleigh Magistrates Court.

“He does have a history of like offending including multiple entries of enter premises and unlawful uses of motor vehicles.”

His lawyer said the Logan plasterer — who pleaded guilty on Wednesday, March 29 to the 32 charges — suffered from drug addiction issues.

“He has struggled with amphetamines for many years,” the defence said.

“His mother was a drug addict and his father was in and out of jail for most of his life.”

Magistrate Gary Finger said Kelly’s criminal history was alarming.

“These are very serious offences,” Mr Finger said.

“Your history is less than satisfactory.

“You were on a suspended sentence in the Supreme Court for supplying drugs.

“If drugs are going to drive you to this then you need to stop.

“If you steal things you will pay the penalty.

“If you come back again, you will not be dealt with in this court but will be dealt with in the district court.”

Kelly was convicted and received a head sentence of two and a half years, to serve a third.

His 237 days spent in pre-sentence custody was declared as time served.

He will be released on parole on July 4 this year.

For driving disqualified he was disqualified for three years.

Convictions were recorded.
