A Logan hairdresser who robbed an elderly woman in a car and demanded her keys, phone and wallet, has been released on parole.

Jerralee Anne Cassidy, 30, pleaded guilty in Beenleigh District Court on April 30 to unlawfully entering a vehicle with company and stealing.

The court heard that on May 20, 2023 in Waterford Cassidy and an unknown man approached a 61-year-old woman who was in her car in her driveway.

They got inside the car and demanded the lady hand over her possessions.

“Give me your keys, give me your keys,” they yelled at the woman, the court heard.

Cassidy sat in the front seat of the car said to the victim they would not harm her if she obeyed them.

They then asked for the woman’s handbag which had a gold necklace, cash and credit cards and threatened to kill the driver if she went to the police.

The pair also stole her mobile phone.

The court heard the car’s licence plates were taken and found at Cassidy’s house by police.

Cassidy worked as a hairdresser and completed an apprenticeship which she started at age 15.

The court heard she was a mother to two children, aged six and eight.

Judge Jodie Wooldridge said this type of behaviour needed to be punished by the courts.

“People have the right to sit outside their homes and not be accosted,” she said.

Cassidy was sentenced to one year and two months in prison and released immediately on parole.

She had already spent 175 days in pre-sentence custody.
