Isabelle Dolores Marlor, 23, cops seven-month jail term for stolen vehicle drives

A 23-year-old mum-of-two caught in stolen cars on three occasions on one day, while committing a string of frauds has been blasted by a magistrate.

Australia's Court System

A 23-year-old mum-of-two who used a stolen vehicle to partake in the theft of a second vehicle, was on parole for a robbery offence at the time, a court has heard.

Appearing at Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Monday Isabelle Dolores Marlor, 23, was told, “you are in the hands of the parole board now”, after she was granted immediate parole eligibility.

The Pimpama woman pleaded guilty to 12 offences.

They included unlawfully using a vehicle, eight counts of fraud, entering a dwelling to commit an indictable offence and receiving tainted property.

The court heard Marlor was on parole for a robbery offence from 2018 on January 3 when she was captured on CCTV and left DNA evidence while using two stolen vehicles.

The defendant used a stolen white RAV 4 to get to a Minden property from where a Toyota LandCruiser and a debit card were stolen, the court was told.

She subsequently committed eight counts of fraud with the stolen card, according to police.

Police prosecutor Tim Wise said Marlor had previously received a six-month head sentence for similar offending and showed a blatant disregard for court sentences.

The court was told Marlor had been deeply affected by the death of a child at the time of her offending but acknowledged she had been “in and out” of jail since she was 18.

The court heard Marlor had gone straight to intravenous hard drug abuse from a young age and realised she had a lot of growing up to do.

According to the defence, she abstained from drugs during her most recent jail term and had completed a parenting course.

Magistrate Tracy Mossop nonetheless blasted the woman.

“One can only hope as you get older you can wake up to yourself and live a better life

instead of continually engaging in drug use and offending behaviour,” Ms Mossop said.

“It is absolutely appalling.”

Having served 76 days in pre-sentence custody Marlor was sentenced to seven months’ jail and granted an immediate parole eligibility.

The court was told current probation hearings have an average lag of 120 days.

“You are in the hands of the probation board now,” Ms Mossop said.
