A pregnant Woodridge mum who threatened to stab a supermarket staffer with a screwdriver after being caught stealing has been given a suspended sentence.

Adelia Cynthia Willmot, 30, pleaded guilty in the District Court at Beenleigh on Friday to common assault and enter premises with intent.

The court heard the mum of four was caught stealing items and shoving them down the front of her pants at a FoodWorks supermarket on October 29, 2018.

A 20-year-old staffer approached her and told her to remove the stolen items and she pulled out a screwdriver from her pocket and said: “You touch me again, I’ll stab you!”

As she attempted to run away the staffer grabbed the screwdriver out of her hands and she fell to the ground.

She was asked to return the items again and she continued to insist that she didn’t have anything and continued to swear at the staffer.

The staffer attempted to retrieve the items from a bag she had and Willmot got angry and one by one removed the items and threw them on the ground.

Willmot walked out of the store and yelled: “I’ll come back with my brother and we’ll bring a bigger screwdriver.”

She was identified in CCTV footage at the store on December 18, 2018, and arrested.

Willmot was ordered to serve a nine-month suspended sentence.
