A Logan man has faced court after assaulting his ex-partner and slingshotting a ball bearing through her car window.
Jimboomba resident, Jason Graham Armstrong, 36, pleaded guilty in Beenleigh District court Thursday, December 15, to one count of common assault, one count of dangerous conduct with weapon and one count of wilful damage — domestic violence offences.
The court heard Armstrong’s partner had accused him of infidelity and said she was leaving him before he assaulted her at his home in Jimboomba.
“The defendant grabbed her by the hair and pulled her until she managed to free herself and ran from the shed,” the police prosecutor said.
The victim left the property but came back a short time later.
“He grabbed a ball bearing from a shanghai,” the police prosecutor said.
“The ball bearing that was fired struck the window, shattering the window and spraying the victim with glass.”
Armstrong’s lawyer, Jarrod Bell, said his client was remorseful.
“It was reckless and my client regrets his actions,” Mr Bell said.
Judge Craig Chowdhury said the victim was injured during the attack.
“(She) sustained small cuts from the glass,” Mr Chowdhury said.
“This is pretty outstanding behaviour for a man your age.
“Whatever the circumstances, society expects adults to behave like adults.
“It needs to stop.”
Armstrong was convicted and sentenced to six months imprisonment with immediate parole release.
Convictions were recorded.
“If you are stupid enough to breach parole they will suspend your order and bring you to jail,” Mr Chowdhury said.
