A Gold Coast teenager has been remembered by friends and family after he was tragically killed in a head-on car crash that took the life of another teen.
Ben Grahame, 17, was driving along Beaudesert-Beenleigh Rd in Birnam, when he was involved in a horrific car crash.
A 4WD ute and sedan collided 15km northeast of Beaudesert on Beaudesert-Beenleigh Rd at Birnam, south of Brisbane, around 6.15pm Sunday, May 28.
Mr Grahame and another 17-year-old from Palen Creek died at the scene.
Family friend of Mr Grahame, Candy Looman, paid tribute to the teen on Facebook.
“Late last night (his mother) Colleen was delivered the most unthinkable news any parent does not want to hear, her youngest child and only son was tragically killed in a car accident at 6.30pm Sunday may 28th,” she wrote on Facebook.
“At the tender age of just 17 Ben was Colleen’s world and she now needs to grieve.”
Ms Looman has now started has started a GoFundMe page to help Mr Grahame’s mother cope with the tragic loss of her son.
“Where do I start, Ben was a very much loved and treasured family member who was charismatic, funny, the life of the party and a big softie on the inside,” Ms Looman wrote on the GoFundMe page.
“As you can imagine no one was prepared for this and especially not his mum who is self employed and runs a local family day care business in Ormeau.
“Ben is the baby of the family and Colleen’s only son whose adult life hadn’t even really started, Ben was just 17 (years old).
“Please help us try and raise funds for Ben's mum so she doesn’t have the financial burden while she is trying to process the tragic loss of her son and to give Ben the send off he truly deserves.
“Every dollar counts, big or small.”
The GoFundMe has raised $7,500 out of their goal of $10,000, so far.
Mr Grahame’s friends and family have also taken to Facebook to share tributes to their beloved friend.
“Love you bro,” Conah Hodson wrote on Facebook.
“Rest easy Ben,” Kayden Ferguson wrote.
Police are urging anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage of the crash to come forward.
The Forensic Crash Unit is still investigating.
