Geoff Ian Geisseler, 38, charged with grooming a child and indecent treatment of a child

A father has been charged with multiple offences after allegedly striking up an online relationship with a teenage girl before committing indecent acts.

A 38-year-old engineer from South Maclean accused of grooming and exposing himself to a 13-year-old girl he met on a bus has been denied bail.

Geoff Ian Geisseler, 38, appeared in custody in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Monday charged with grooming a child under 16 years of age, using the internet to procure children under 16 and two counts of indecent treatment of a child under 16 (expose).

The court heard the alleged victim is a 13-year-old girl who met Geisseler, who is a father of one, on a public bus travelling from her home to Brisbane city.

Magistrate Cameron McKenzie said police will allege he struck up an online relationship with the child over emails and Snapchat.

“It is the victim’s position that on the morning and afternoon bus rides she would often see the defendant staring at her in a way that made her feel uncomfortable,” he said.

“Through certain means, the defendant then struck up a conversational relationship with the 13-year-old child and subsequently email communications of up to 100 emails a day.

“In which it is alleged that the defendant acknowledges the victim was 14 years of age and in which the defendant has requested naked and other sexualised images of her to the defendant.

“And when he has sent to her a photo of his penis from what appears to be an office space and further a selfie at the time showing his face identifying himself.

“It is further alleged that the defendant has asked to meet the victim child to meet on multiple occasions to engage in sexual acts however she has made excuses not to do so on numerous occasions.”

He denied Geisseler‘s request for bail and his matters were adjourned to October 24.
