A man in his 50s had a lucky escape after getting wedged in a boat anchor well after falling into the cavity on a large boat docked at shipyard and marina south of Brisbane.

Emergency service workers were called to Horizon Shores Marina at Steiglitz near Jacobs Well about 10.30am today.

Ambulance officers at the scene said the man had been working above the anchor well when he fell into the cavity and became wedged.

Fireys used the jaws of life to cut into the well to free the man, who was assessed and treated for minor injuries.
