A Logan woman brutally bashed her cousin in a car using a knife and mace spray in a sordid act of family revenge, which was caught on film.

“We came here to f——k you up, you low-life piece of s——t,” said Fetalaiga Brenda Chong Nee to her cousin while he was placed in the middle seat of the car.

The 42-year-old mother of three carried out the vigilante revenge act because the victim had kicked his own mother.

Beenleigh District Court heard on Tuesday, April 11 that Chong Nee lured her cousin to a park in Kingston then made him get in the car.

She then punched and kicked him repeatedly for 15 minutes, sprayed mace in his face and used a knife to cut his throat.

While she did this, Chong Nee’s partner filmed the attack on his mobile phone.

A four-minute video of the incident was played to the court during sentencing.

Chong Nee pleaded guilty to torture, wounding, deprivation of liberty and assault occasioning bodily harm while armed.

The New Zealand-born mother carried out the attack two days before Christmas in December 2021.

The court heard she held a knife to her cousin’s throat and said “if you ever kick mum again we’ll kill you. We’ll come and get you.”

Chong Nee then forced him to apologise while he was being recorded.

The victim tried to leave but she threatened him with the knife and stopped him.

After the attack she dropped him off in Loganlea and told him to get out of the car, then drove away.

She also threatened she would hurt him again if he told anyone what happened.

He was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital and suffered significant injuries.

Chong Nee was later questioned by police but refuted the victim’s version of events and instead suggested he was being aggressive and had attacked her.

Judge Rowan Jackson said this kind of behaviour was highly concerning to the general community.

“The violence is of particular concern and there is a need to deter vigilante style conduct,” he said.

Chong Nee was sentenced to 3.5 years’ jail, to serve five months of actual custody.

She had already served 189 days of pre-sentence custody.
