A Logan man has been arrested and charged with three offences after allegedly choking and bashing a woman on Sunday.
Loganlea man Eldean Cole Blake, 37, made an application for bail in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Monday.
He is charged with assault occasioning bodily harm and choking a woman.
Police allege the woman in the matter had asked Mr Blake to leave her residence after he placed beer in her freezer.
This allegedly led to a violent confrontation where Mr Blake is said to have strangled and assaulted the woman in the presence of her children.
The court heard when police arrived, they witnessed the alleged victim with a “visible scratch mark to her neck and a bruise to her chest”, photographs of which were tendered to Magistrate Clare Kelly.
Mr Palombo said his client “accepted the majority of the facts” but “categorically denies placing his hands around her neck”.
He submitted the scratch to the woman’s neck could have easily stemmed from the “wrestle on the bed” which allegedly occurred between the pair.
Mr Palombo said his client suffered from depression and anxiety and was medicated.
Mr Blake’s application for bail was refused on the basis he posed an unacceptable risk to the alleged victim.
His charges will next be mentioned on May 5.
