A Logan man has been arrested and charged with two offences following a bizarre family feud at Subway Logan Central on Tuesday, where he demanded his brother, an employee, handed over free cookies and then exploded when he didn’t.
Kingston man Nicholas John McCormack, 21, was charged with breaching a domestic violence order and public nuisance following Tuesday’s incident, which occurred about 3.50pm.
Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Wednesday heard McCormack, after inhaling solvents in a practice known as ‘chroming’, barged into the store and demanded of his brother, who had a domestic violence order in place against his errant brother, to hand over free cookies.
The court heard McCormack said to his brother, “Give me some cookies, you c***”.
When he was refused, McCormack made a scene and kicked the door on the way out.
He was charged with committing a public nuisance and breaching a domestic violence order and spent the night in the watch-house.
He pleaded guilty on Wednesday at the first opportunity.
The court heard both offences were committed while on a two-year probation order but he had not been breached on that order.
“It was unacceptable behaviour, causing a very unpleasant scene,” defence lawyer Penny Hallam said.
“He has got anger management issues.”
McCormack was fined $450 and released from custody.
