An Ipswich mum who had partied at a wild drug-fuelled hen’s weekend was driving into barriers as she cruised down a major highway after the illicit festivities.

Goodna’s Ebony Louise Triggs, 33, was caught by police driving on the Pacific Motorway at Springwood on October 13, 2022.

“Police received information from triple-0 about a red Honda Civic travelling in an erratic manner,” police prosecutor Kalinda Cheung told Beenleigh Magistrates Court.

“The witness then said that he observed the vehicle to swerve across lanes and to hit the concrete barrier on the roadside.

“Police observed her arms moving up and down as if she was in no control of her limbs, she was slurring her speech, had red eyes and appeared to be drowsy.

“She had a series of drugs in her system such as amphetamines, meth, diazepam, oxopam, benzo and GBH.”

The court heard she hit the concrete barrier because she did not have a magnet to keep her phone in a holder attached to the dashboard.

“She said she was looking down at her maps when she hit the barrier.”

Lawyer Clancy Robba said his client – who pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of drugs and driving without due care and attention – was remorseful.

“She spent the weekend down the coast on a hen’s weekend and consumed some drugs, she made the stupid decision to get in the car and drive home,” Mr Robba said.

“She has completed the Queensland Traffic Offenders Program.

“She has engaged in the drug program, and has completed approximately 35 sessions now.”

Magistrate Patrina Clohessy said Triggs needed to quit her drug use.

“It appears you may have had issues in regards to using illicit substances,” Ms Clohessy said.

“You were sentenced after drug driving in 2021.

“Getting behind the car when you were clearly not fit to drive.

“You noted that it’s not only selfish, it’s just not worth it.”

Triggs was convicted and fined $1000

She was disqualified from driving for four months.

Convictions were recorded.
