A Logan child sex offender who is facing seven fresh charges of failing to comply with reporting to police claims to have “trouble with memory loss”, a court has heard.

Dwaine Michael Green, 33, of Woodridge, appeared in custody and applied for bail at Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Tuesday charged with seven counts of failing to comply with reporting.

The court heard Green, who is a father of one, had previously been convicted and sentenced for a charge of carnal knowledge of a child under 16 years.

He also has a lengthy criminal history with seven fail-to-appear and 14 breach-of-bail charges.

Green’s lawyer told the court her client had “trouble with memory loss” and argued his failure to comply with reporting offences were at the lower end of the scale.

“These aren’t matters where he’s trying to disobey the orders, it’s just a matter where he’s needing more support,” she said.

“It’s not something where its alleged where he’s been around children. It’s not something where he’s allegedly to have breached anything of that level of seriousness.”

She told the court Green had also been under “a lot of stress” lately trying to find somewhere to live.

“He says his lease is up at the end of the year and that’s been something that’s quite stressful for him,” she said.

He was granted bail, which included residential and curfew conditions, and his matters were adjourned to January 11.
