Dog breeder Shane Neindorf faced court over partner bashing

A former Logan man has faced court after he brutally bashed his partner because she would not pause a movie they were watching despite her constant screams for him to stop.

A Logan magistrate has labelled a dog breeder’s actions as “cowardly” after he assaulted a woman because she would not pause a movie they were watching.

Shane John Neindorf, who now lives in the South Australian suburb of West Lakes, pleaded guilty in Beenleigh Magistrates Court today, January 19, to one account of assault occasioning bodily harm, and one count of wilful damage.

The court heard the 54-year-old and his partner were in their Loganlea home on April 24, 2022 when it started to rain outside.

“You and the aggrieved were watching a movie and it started to rain, you requested that the aggrieved pause the movie,” Magistrate Terry Duroux said.

“You started yelling at the aggrieved for not pausing the movie.

“She went outside to help you with the animals before she went back inside the house, slammed the door and told you to f**k off.

“You ran into the house, grabbed the aggrieved by her hair, dragged her across the lounge room floor, you then bent her neck as far as it would go.

“She yelled at you to stop.

“You pushed the aggrieved backwards into the coffee table.

“She was screaming in pain.”

The court heard Neindorf grabbed her by the hair before she ran and locked herself in a bedroom.

“You smashed your way through the bedroom door,” Magistrate Duroux said.

“You screamed ‘why won’t you shut up?’

“The aggrieved believes that you may have kicked her while she was on the ground.

“You pulled a cabinet on the aggrieved.

“She said it took her quite a while to get up from under the cabinet.

“She had a black right eye and complained of pain to the neck.”

Police prosecutor Rheannon Dhillon said the offences were concerning.

“He damaged a door frame and a door,” she said.

“They are quite serious charges, it is very serious offending.”

Neindorf’s lawyer, Nicole Conlan, said her client had many health problems.

“He’s been diagnosed with Scheuermann's disease,” Ms Conlan said.

“In 2016 he suffered a back injury and has been unable to work since 2016,”

“He has struggled with licit substances in the past.

“He’s been diagnosed with depression and anxiety,”

Magistrate Terry Duroux said Neindorf’s actions were “cowardly”.

“It’s a cowardly attack against a female,” Magistrate Duroux said.

“Domestic violence remains an insidious, prevalent problem in our society.

“This type of offending is very prevalent in the Logan area.”

Neindorf was convicted and given a head sentence of 15 months, suspended for three years.

His 68 days spent in pre-sentence custody was declared as time served.

Convictions were recorded.
