A SUBURBAN state school and a school in a developing area have been named as some of the worst school parking zones in Logan.

More than 400 drivers have been fined for parking illegally and dangerously in the city’s school zones already this year.

Yugumbir State School in Regents Park and Flagstone State School in Jimboomba topped the list with 26 fines.

Mt Warren Park State School on Mt Warren Blvd followed with 22 fines.

There have already been 416 fines issued in total.

This comes after more than 300 drivers were fined for parking illegally and dangerously around Brisbane school zones during a council crackdown last term. Almost 120 proactive patrols were undertaken at 17 schools in Brisbane during term one as part of a safer schools campaign.

The Brisbane City Council and State Government continue a standoff over funding school drop-off zones.

Since the 1990s they have split the bill, but BCC has sought to fund the zones under another scheme.
