An unsuspecting Porsche owner will have to wait for Energex crews to turn off power before collecting their drenched car.
The silver Porsche was parked on the waterfront at Cleveland Point before today’s storm and high tide swamped an Energex power box, which exploded and was steaming before the road was closed.
The road was lashed by choppy seas and gales.
Police at the site cordoned off the road to the lighthouse, often referred to as Millionaires’ Row.
They also barred people from the Point while waves were breaking over the road.
People at the point before this morning’s 9.40am high tide were forced to stay in place near the Cleveland Lighthouse.
Ferries to Stradbroke Island were still running from Cleveland’s Toondah Harbour.
Hazardous surf warnings have been issued but Redlands Council has not needed to issue any road warnings.
Redland City Council has opened depots for people to make their own sandbags at the Redland City Council South Street Depot.
Council staff and SES will be onsite to assist.
Sand, bags and shovels will be supplied.
