What is your vision for your school community in 2020?
The legacy we wish to leave Canterbury at the end of 2020 is not in relation to physical assets but by setting high standards for student leadership. This legacy is underpinned by developing the vision of a connected College: In and Out.
A Connected Community: In
- Ensure the student leadership team helps create a safe and supportive environment, where students feel comfortable to take steps out of their comfort zone, with a strong focus on mental health, forming friendships and developing strong supportive connections.
- Enhance the depth of College spirit with an improved focus on House spirit through intra- and inter-house competitions.
- For the student leadership team to have a visible presence at Canterbury events helping to drive energy, enthusiasm and spirit among the student body.
- Developing a strong sense of community as a connected Canterbury across the Junior and Secondary Schools.
A Connected Community: Out
- By developing the connectedness within the College, we hope that Canterbury will be able to develop strong and sustainable external community links.
- The student leadership team realises how fortunate we are being at such an outstanding school and hope to make a difference in the wider community through volunteering and fundraising projects.
The focus of 2020 projects is establishing connections within community organisations so Canterbury can champion their cause and model servant leadership by volunteering. This will be supported with fundraising throughout the year and supporting awareness days such as Bullying! No Way Day and RU OK? Day.

What is your vision for your school community in 2020?
Loganlea State High School is proud to present our 2020 School Captains; Brayden, Emily, Kaitlin and Khadijah. All four captains have varied goals for 2020. Kaitlin is a talented surf lifesaver and plans to travel to Italy to compete in the World Championships for IRB Racing. Emily is looking forward to gaining more knowledge through the University of Queensland’s Enhanced Studies Program. Brayden is completing his Diesel Fitting qualifications through his apprenticeship. Khadijah aims to build on her knowledge of nursing and first aid while completing her PA Certificate II course. All of our captains have developed their outstanding leadership skills by participating in at least one of the STAR excellence programs in their time at Loganlea. These STAR Programs include Signature Academic Excellence, Dance Excellence, Surf Lifesaving, Loganlea Institute of Sport, Agribusiness and Hospitality Excellence. Our captains will be participating in weekly mentoring and coaching sessions, will attend the Loganlea State High School Leadership Camp and are working hard on developing a legacy project for the benefit of all future students of the school. Loganlea State High School is built on a culture of high expectations and we are confident that our 2020 school captains will lead the student body to uphold these standards.
ROCHEDALE STATE HIGH SCHOOL
SCHOOL LEADERS: HARRISON BUCKLEY AND MICHAELA DANDO
What is your vision for your school community in 2020?
In our past five years, Rochedale SHS has positively shaped us into the young members of society we are today. The school has been a vital part of our growth. As we reflected upon this, we recognised that we wished to be more than simply a part of this school community, we wished to do much more. We want to make 2020 the year, where we positively give back to the school.
Our vision at Rochedale State High School is “Performers for every stage, expressing talents in every field”. This means that everyone at our school has an opportunity to succeed. We have many different avenues at our school which makes us different and exciting. Our values are POISE, which stands for Participation, Openness, Integrity, Success and Equality.
This year our school theme is “Precision matters”, and this will permeate our projects and actions in the school.
In 2020 there will be a focus on house spirit in order to increase inclusivity and provide opportunities for all students to get involved and participate in the school community. This will be implemented through a variety of academic, sporting and cultural activities which will allow students to contribute to their house success.
As the school captains of 2020, we will act with integrity and support the development and progress of all students at our school.
School Captains of Rochedale State High School,

What is your vision for your school community in 2020?
The vision of our Student Leadership for 2020 is that we believe that all students have the capacity to lead within our school culture and we aim to develop individuals to have big plans and bold ambitions for a bright future. Students are challenged and expected to work collaboratively to inspire and motivate others in promoting a school culture of pride and belonging. The vision is to make a positive difference in their own and other people’s lives. We look forward to what the 2020 Student Leadership Team brings.
WINDAROO VALLEY STATE HIGH SCHOOL
SCHOOL CAPTAINS: ZOE GRAMBAU AND BELLA ALLEN
What is your vision for your school community in 2020?
Bella Allen: My vision as 2020 captain is to rejuvenate the school culture inside of Windaroo. This was one of my main goals running for my position last year and has become my vision for this year as well. This will be implemented through the Student Council run by Zoe and I, where we will be able to advocate for students and offer more to the Windaroo Community. 2020 is going to be an exciting year and the 2020 leadership team cannot wait to make a legacy inside of Windaroo.
Zoe Grambau: My ambition for 2020 is to reinvigorate the vision for student leadership in school in a way that involves students from all year levels and positive views of student leaders in our school. In doing this I hope to leave behind a culture where there are seamless transitions of senior leadership groups from year to year with the mission of their own positive contribution to Windaroo, and the skill and experience to implement it. I also hope to create a forum in our school where all our students can report issues and give suggestions for school improvements and we can work together to create a better place to come to every day.
