The troubled son of Logan toddler killer Shane Arthur Simpson was aged seven when his drug-addicted dad first asked him to inject heroin into his arm for him, a court has heard.

Byron Norman Simpson, 20, recently found himself on the wrong side of the law after cops allegedly caught him reaching speeds over 200km/h through Brisbane in a stolen BMW.

The young Munruben man applied for bail in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

He stands charged with two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and one count each of dangerous operation of a vehicle with two prior convictions, driving disqualified and possessing utensils or pipes.

The court heard PolAir was tracking a stolen BMW from Nundah to Waterford West on November 13 last year.

Police allege the BMW was observed driving at speed and was clocked doing 154km/h in an 80 zone at Eagle Farm and then at 203km/h while going past Carindale.

The court heard the BMW was also allegedly seen travelling on the wrong side of the road and running through a red light during the trip.

Police will allege that PolAir continued to track the car when Mr Simpson dumped it at a residential complex on Chambers Flat Rd, Waterford West and was seen leaving on foot.

The court heard he began jumping fences and walking in the direction of his home address, nearby where he was later arrested.

The court heard Mr Simpson was fitted with a GPS ankle tracker at the time of the alleged offending.

Defence lawyer Katie Peisley told the court her client had a terrible childhood and was aged seven when his father first asked him to inject heroin into his arm for him.

“It was not a great environment for a young child to be raised in,” she said.

Mr Simpson is the brother of slain toddler Baden Bond, a 22-month-old baby, who was left at an Eagleby boat ramp at dusk one evening in 2007 and never seen again.

Their father, Shane Arthur Simpson pleaded guilty to manslaughter in 2019 and was sentenced to 12 years jail, and their mother, Dina Colleen Bond, guilty of being an accessory to manslaughter and was sentenced to three years jail.

Ms Peisley told the court her client had been the subject of a number of ongoing assaults since entering custody six months ago, which has been quite “traumatic” for him.

Magistrate Michael O’Driscoll denied the application for bail and remanded him in custody. His matters were adjourned to June 1.
