A family owned and run business in Browns Plains has been named this year’s best mechanic shop in Logan.
Steve Sorensen Mechanical is well-known in Logan for staff who have attention to detail and will guarantee quality workmanship and offer honest advice.
The business was established in Browns Plains in 1996 when A-grade mechanic Steve Sorensen had the chance to open his own car repair workshop.
The business started out as a one-man car repair workshop but Steve quickly gained a reputation as an honest and hardworking tradesman.
Over the years, it has grown into a family business with two sons, Brendan and Scott joining the trade alongside two equally competent senior tradesmen to round out the team.
Steve’s wife Robyn is more often than not the friendly voice you will hear when you phone.
Throughout her years in running the office, Robyn has become a valuable member of the team, knowing what questions to ask and information needed to ensure your service or repair is first class.
The business has now spread its wings throughout the industry, participating in several industry groups and associations including RACQ, Motor Trade Association Queensland and the Institute of Automotive Mechanical Engineers.
Brendan is also a part of the assistance team on an Australia Wide Diagnostic Assistance group, answering questions to help other mechanics throughout Australia with tough problems, showing just how versatile the family business is.
In 2007, the business moved to new, larger premises at St Jude Court, Browns Plains, where a clean and modern car repair workshop was established.
The workshop is equipped with the latest service, repair, scan tools and diagnostic equipment and staff receive ongoing training to ensure they are up to date with technologies.
The business won the Quest Business Achievers Awards for outstanding service in the Motor Vehicle Sales and Service category five years in a row.
Steve Sorensen Mechanical also won “Word of Mouth” Service Awards thanks to the many five-star reviews left by customers.
“With our fantastic staff, we look forward to continuing to offer an economical alternative to dealership servicing for many years to come,” Steve said.
When the family is not at the car repair workshop, they are at a kart track with the whole clan getting involved with Scott who is an Australian Kart Champion with the Harrington Doyle Racing Arrow Karts Team.
In 2016, along with multiple state championships, Scott secured the KA1 Australian Championship, which saw him travelling to Italy to represent Australia in the Rok Cup. “Whether it’s a local club meet or an international event, we all love karting and it keeps our appetite for petrol fumes satiated while the workshop doors are closed on a weekend,” Scott said.
