A high school in Brisbane’s south has gone into lockdown with police on scene following reports of an intruder spotted on the grounds allegedly with a knife.
Logan’s Mabel Park State High School issued a statement on social media.
“Earlier today we were alerted to a member of the public on school grounds without permission and as a result we have entered lockdown,” the statement said.
The statement said the lockdown was lifted just after 2pm and it was a precautionary measure where Queensland Police Service worked with the school to ensure everyone was safe.
“The safety of our staff and our students is always our number one priority.”
A Queensland Police spokesperson said they were called to a trespass incident at 12.30 at the Slacks Creek school.
“Police were called to a trespass incident at an education facility on Paradise Road, Slacks Creek around 12.30pm,” they said.
“It’s understood a male has entered the property without permission but has since left.
“Officers locked down the facility for around 50 minutes while investigations were undertaken, which was revoked just before 2pm.
“There are reports the man may be armed with a knife, however they are unsubstantiated at this time and investigations are ongoing to locate him.”
Police said there is no current threat to public safety.
