A routine traffic stop uncovered 7kg of cannabis in a car boot after police noticed a Logan cleaner and mother behaving strangely.

Beenleigh District Court heard on Monday, November 6, that Carly May Elizabeth Cullen was driving in Jimboomba on May 29, last year when she was pulled over by police who noticed her driving erratically.

They discovered the 39-year-old Tamborine woman was drunk behind the wheel.

A search of her car revealed 7kg of cannabis in the boot as well as a small amount of cocaine.

Cullen pleaded guilty to possession of more than 500g of a dangerous drug, possessing anything used in the commission of a crime, supplying dangerous drugs and possession of a dangerous drug (cocaine).

The court heard she was also found with scales and the cannabis was in her possession for commercial use, with an estimated street value of $65,000.

Cullen previously worked as a chef but was now managing a cleaning company in Tambourine.

Judge David Kent said that to be holding that amount of any drug meant Cullen must have been involved with “undesirable crowds’’.

“You were clearly associated with some pretty bad people,” he said.

“When police searched your car they hit the jackpot.

“You need an avenue of support and that is why I am considering probation.”

Cullen was sentenced to 18 months’ prison, wholly suspended for a period of two years.

She was also placed on probation for two years.
