Bradley Stuhlfauth: Logan dad pleads guilty to stealing car

“I’m so angry with you”: A Logan magistrate has unleashed on a young dad who racked up 20 charges in just a few days, telling him he needs to do better for his five children.

A Logan magistrate has unleashed on a young dad who committed a spate of offences over a period of just a few days, stealing people’s “presents”, mail, tools, and even a car.

Bradley William Stuhlfauth, 26, appeared in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Wednesday, August 3 and pleaded guilty to 20 offences summarised by his defence lawyer as a “short spree” of crime.

The court heard the Browns Plains man stole a number of goods, many of high value, including clothing, shoes, toys, petrol, tools, and registration plates.

He was also found to be in possession of cannabis, methamphetamine, and S4 and S8 medicines.

But police prosecutor Tahlia Boettcher told the court the most serious offence he committed between April 25 and 30 this year was unlawfully using a vehicle without the consent of its owner.

She described Stuhlfauth’s offending as “not overly sophisticated”, explaining he was a “career criminal” who regularly carried out opportunistic crimes.

Ms Boettcher said RACQ was seeking restitution of more than $20,000 from him after a car he drove was written off.

Stuhlfauth’s lawyer Thomas Allen asked Magistrate Pamela Dowse to consider his client had entered early pleas of guilty, he had spent some 95 days in presentence custody, and his crimes were committed following a drug relapse.

Ms Allen noted Stuhlfauth had a “decent” work history with seven years’ experience in turf laying and was optimistic he would have employment upon his release.

The court heard the Logan man has five children, including one newborn baby, who motivated him to want to do better.

Stuhlfauth told Ms Dowse he was sorry for his actions and his time in presentence custody had “taken a toll” on him.

The magistrate told him his behaviour was “ridiculous”, particularly for a father of five.

“I’m so angry with you,” Ms Dowse told Stuhlfauth.

Ms Dowse sentenced the Logan dad to a total of 12 months’ imprisonment with immediate parole release, declaring the 95 days he spent in presentence custody time already served under the sentence.
