A child was taken to hospital with a head injury after being bashed and thrown at a wall by a Logan labourer eshay, a court has heard.

A child has a lump on their head after being bashed and thrown at a wall by a Logan labourer eshay, a court has heard.

Bodie Izzy Buggy, 26, pleaded guilty in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Monday, August 7 to assault occasioning bodily harm and common assault.

The court heard Buggy, from Holmview, threw a child onto a bed last year.

The child hit their head on the wall, which caused a haematoma and lump on their head and they were taken to hospital.

Buggy also placed his hand over the child’s mouth, heard the court.

The victim, who was not related to Buggy, told police they felt scared during the incident.

Buggy also pleaded guilty to breaching bail and had a history of similar offending, with 38 previous breaches of bail on his record.

The court heard the father of one worked as a labourer and hoped to continue this line of work once released from prison.

Magistrate Terry Duroux said this behaviour towards a child was entirely unacceptable.

“I find this absolutely disgraceful, you’re 26 and old enough to know better,” he said.

“You have let yourself down big time.

“I see this type of offending from time to time and it needs to be punished.”

Buggy was sentenced to 12 months prison and set a parole release date of November 28, 2023.

He had already served nine days of pre-sentence custody.
